Green Car Insurance
November 10, 2008
Yes I know what you’re thinking, how can car insurance be green? Well, it can. I am not saying that driving a car is green, but most of us simply cannot function without a car. And for those people who need cars, and that’s most of the population in the West, we need green car insurance.
We can all try to drive as little as possible, and share our cars when we do use them (I particularly like http://www.liftshare.org.uk/). But this is a practical and new innovation to deal with the majority. Green Car Insurance is a great and really simple idea (aren’t all the best ideas simple??) of applying carbon off-setting onto selected car insurance deals. By taking into account your annual mileage, make of car, size of engine and other simple details the amount of carbon required to offset your driving is calculated and added to your premium.
And it’s not expensive either! In fact, I ran my own insurance through the leading comparison site, and then through our Green Offset Car Insurance selector and I got by far the best deal for me through the Green Insurance. This excellent idea needs promoting! We can all feel guilty about cars as much as we like and pretend that the world would be so much better without them, but in the real world we have cars, and will have them for the foreseeable future, and we simply need to take whatever green steps we can to counter balance the impact on our planet. This is quick, simple, cheap, and it reduces our carbon footprint!
